During the Pentecostal Movement's Leadership Conference in Filadelfia Osio this month, the question of Pentecostals' continued support for Israel and the Jews was raised by the Oslokirken pastor Jan-Aage Torp. The backdrop was strong accusations that Israel had become an apartheid state, which were presented in the Christian daily press by Pentecostal preachers Marit Landrø and Frank Matre.
The decisive vote after the passionate debate showed that 85 percent of the leaders were completely supportive of Israel and the Jews. But the small minority consisted of some of those who lead the movement's joint bodies, and with strong support from the newspaper Vårt Land and ecumenical forums in Norway.
