Egypt´s Minister of Awqaf (=Minister of Islam) in President El-Sisi´s Government, Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Gomaa, has expressed appreciation for the homage that Rev. Jan-Aage Torp, who is the Chairman of Christian Coalition Norway (KKN), has paid this week to Egypt´s success with COP27, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Sharm El-Sheikh.

This was expressed by Dr. Gomaa in a Facebook post on Friday, and on Saturday two Cairo-based newspapers - Alwafd (The Delegate Newspaper), and Alyoum Al Saabi (The Seventh Day Newspaper) - presented it to the nation.

The newspapers both write that Dr. Gomaa said that Rev. Jan Aage Torp, Chairman of Christian Coalition Norway (KKN), has paid homage to the Egyptian success in organizing the Climate Conference (CO27). Torp had written on KKN´s webpage and social media: «It is a matter of great joy for me, from my base here in Oslo, Norway, to see the great successes achieved by Egypt in organizing the climate conference (COP27)».

The Minister of Awqaf added, in a statement on Saturday, that Jan-Aage Torp had stated: «I was honored to get to know the Egyptian Minister of Awqaf, Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Gomaa, two years ago. I pray for Egypt that God preserves and blesses the nation.»
 
The newspapers both write that Rev. Jan-Aage Torp was among the guests of the thirty-first and thirty-second international conferences of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, which were held in Cairo in 2021 and 2022, under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi under the title: «Dialogue between Religions and Cultures» and «The Citizenship Contract and its Impact on Achieving Societal and Global Peace».
